Answer: - Differences between voting age populations and voting eligible populations: -
One thing is common in each election that is number of votes.
Whoever gets the highest vote count in election, wins. That is general rule of Elections. However, there are few statistics which is required to be considered to determine the success of any elections to bring out the maximum numbers of voter and voting age population and voting eligible population come into to picture to determine this.
The Voting age population is all about the group of individuals that have reached to the maximum voting age of that particular geographical area. According to Census Bureau, that everyone who is residing in the US and age is 18 or older comes into the VAP. This also include who are not even not registered to vote, not a citizen and convicted felons.
The voting eligible population (VEP) is demographic which actually refer to the group or people of the population who are registered as voter and actually eligible to vote. The people who are non-citizen and convicted as felons and non-eligible to vote, they people are not included in this. In addition to this, the people who are registered voter but located oversea, are also not included in VEP.
This is the main reason that the number is lower for Voting Eligible Population. Although the VAP voting age is 18 however there are no automatic registration process and the figure have little disparity. But it can also be form other factors such as dual registration or inaccurate reporting for an individual who are no longer eligible to vote.
