Although these relationships are not very exciting, they are dependable and stable. Levine and colleagues found that people with a storgic style tended not to report using secret tests, which are indirect, sometimes sneaky ways of trying to find out information, such as asking third parties what they know, seeing if your partner gets jealous when you flirt with someone, or taking a break to find out if your partner will miss you (see Chapter 4 for more on secret tests). Presumably, storgic lovers do not need to use secret tests because their relationships tend to be secure with little uncertainty.
