Brief Overview
Literature and cinema both represent the society, customs and values that individuals have adopted to live. In the context of cinema, there have been many movies, which have shown remarkably existing social biases among people of different communities. The plots of such movies are developed over the basic theoretical perspectives of sociology. Avatar is one of such movies directed by David Cameron.
Summary of the Film
The movie shows how conflict theory, structural functionalism and symbolic interaction apply to a particular context. The movie starts with alien exploration of human beings, an ambitious project over Pandora planet to find absolutely a precious material. However, the local Navi tribe is not in favor of sharing this with humans. The scientific ways are applied to link the avatar forms of human characters.
They interact socially with Navi community, led by Dr. Grace and Jack Sully. However, when Jack discovers the malicious ideas of the project owners, he officially joins Navi and rebels against his own race. Mother Nature helps him and Navi community to win the epic battle of community and humans.
