Alignments exist when all of the graphs that are being considered together have essentially the same pattern of improvement, no change, or deterioration. Obviously, we are interested in improvement, but simultaneous patterns of no change or deterioration also inform you as to needed changes in intervention, as we shall see. We suggest this notation: + + +, 000, and --- to indicate such alignment among three graphs for a single client/system, where the pluses indicate improvement, the zeroes no change, and the minuses deterioration.
