Aircraft Maintenance AVA 20008Second Semester 2020Assignment No 2AMP and Reliability ManagementWrite no more than 1500 words for the whole assignment (excluding references). The assignment is due by close of business 16 October 2020 (Friday). You have been appointed as the Continuing Airworthiness Manager for a CAMO within a start-up airline, operating 25 brand new VH-registered A330 NEO aircraft. The first one is arriving in one month and the rest at 2-week intervals. As the Continuing Airworthiness Manager, you are responsible for the establishment and management of the Approved Maintenance Program (AMP) and Reliability Program for the fleet of aircraft operated by the airline.1. Describe what the AMP document that will be submitted for approval a. what are the key elements,b. how it will be structuredc. what are the key source documents for the AMP Hint: Refer to lecture notes, make use of those references.Note that you are describing elements of the AMP, not producing an AMP.2. a. In your opinion, how would you know if the reliability program was working..? b. What minimum level of reliability would you strive to achieve and why..? (I want a number and an argument as to why it is reasonable, recommend looking at session 1 for inspiration)3. If each aircraft in your fleet had a daily utilisation of 10 hrs / 7 cycles, then, using the information below, what will happen to Airline ASK during the 7th year ofoperation …? (meaning the calendar year after the first aircraft accrues 6 years in service) What strategy would you recommend to manage it…?Hint: Set up a simple spreadsheet to map when the checks will fall and then add up the durations. Assume 1 month = 30 days, 20 months = 1.644 years, 2 weeks = 0.0384 yearsAssume that all inspections occur on the first day of each check (meaning: ignore the check durationswhen counting calendar time)4. Using a suitable calendar (recommend an excel file such as a shift calendar template from the internet), visually map out the heavy maintenance plan for the 3rd quarter of the 7th year.Refer to Session 7, slide 30 for format. Suggest having separate lines for each MRO if you have more than one.Note• Do to re-write the questions.• References which you use to support your work should be quoted. (Just quoting the website address is not adequate). Hyperlinks are fine but must take me to the actual document you are quoting - if it is a big document then a hyperlink plus a page number or paragraph number will be fine.• Avoid copying large amount from references, your own words will be far more desirable from the markers viewpoint.• Identify the meaning of any acronyms used (unless they are from class notes).Recommended Checks:That the Airbus recommended C-Check intervals are the maximum intervals for any operator of the type, a specific operator with specific utilisation has to work out their own schedule. Also note that the actual interval for an operator is the lesser of the FH / FC / Calendar limit.CHECK NAME Task Elements Max check interval Manhours Total Duration (Days)1C1C7500 FH / 5000 FC / 20 Months150062C1C + 2C15000 FH / 10000 FC / 40 Months1200113C1C + 3C22500 FH / 15000 FC / 60 Months30074C1C + 2C + 4C30000 FH / 20000 FC / 80 Months1,000156YStructural Insp.6 years (72 Months)3000125C1C + 5C37500 FH / 25000 FC / 100 Months30076C1C+2C+3C+6C45000 FH / 30000 FC / 120 Months1000157C1C + 7C52500 FH / 35000 FC / 140 Months30078C1C+2C+4C+8C60000 FH / 40000 FC / 160 Months7001712YStructural Insp.12 years (144 Months)350014Note: These are repeating patterns – similar to the block diagram on slide 24 of Lecture 7. Therefore a C4 check coincides with the 4th 1C and the 2nd 2C.Individual element downtimes (days): 1C = 6, 2C = 5, 3C, 5C & 7C = 1, 4C = 4, 6C = 3, 8C = 2, 6Y = 12, 12Y = 14Example: Total duration at 4C = 1C + 2C + 4C = 6 + 5 + 4 = 15 daysAlso note that the structural checks are governed solely by calendar time.
