After several recent consolidations in the international banking sector, one of the largest banks, BankWorld, has a problem. It handles some 35 billion credit card transactions per day and has found that while its central computer is still able to record the transactions and process the monthly statements, it has no unused cpu cycles with which to analyze customer spending patterns. It has come to the attention of the board of directors of BankWorld that you have skills in the use of networks of workstations to solve problems like the one the bank is facing.
