1. Explanation of how GCU’s Christian heritage makes its academic experience different than the non-faith-based university.
Grand Canyon University (GCU), founded in 1949, is a Christian college. It is different from other non-faith-based university principally on the ground that GCU’s mission is to educate from the Christian perspective and the staff, faculty commit themselves to honor Christian beliefs, practices and values in their teachings. Every program is integrated into the curriculum from the Christian worldview and biblical principles are incorporated. It is an attempt of GCU to integrate the learning of God, work, faith and knowledge of the universe and graduates implements that learning in their value-system, discipline, vocation and ethical decision making. In the non-faith education, the knowledge is more secular, and the knowledge is imparted without any particular bent towards any particular religion (Rudd, HILDEBRAND & VOHS 2018).
2. Analysis of how GCU adds difference to educational experience.
GCU integrates the knowledge of God with other knowledge of the universe in order to develop a true understanding of the world around. It endeavors to provide opportunities to students to develop spiritually and engage in activities that will assist them in understanding God and their purpose in life. GCU offers Chapel and the Gathering services, which is an opportunity for students, staff to worship and connect with God. It also promotes Life Groups, where students build community, form relationships and study the Bible. It also offers Local and Global outreach programs, so that they commit themselves for the service of nations. Therefore, GCU offers both academic and experiential learnings in their curriculum for all-round development (Grand Canyon University, n.d).
