1 Consider one of the published papers you have read recently. Reflect on the resesarch design - was it appropriate ?


If yes, consider how the design might be expanded to take a more pragmatic post postivist approach to clinical practice improvement?


If not, how might the study design be improved to answer the question.

Activity.6.2:


In class this week we looked at some basics of descriptive statistics. Knowing your data, basic interpretation of central tendency and variability or spread. We described some terms and how to interpret them that you have probably read in journal articles before but glossed over them. So I just want you to go back to the journal articles you have read for a recent assignment and re-read the statistics part. Just the descriptive stuff. See if what we learned in class this week changes your interpretation (or enhances) of the paper. How they treat means and medians for example, whether they used mean data for categorical data, was a standard deviation expressed and if it was did you gloss over it before and does it make sense now. Were 95% confidence intervals expressed fro a mean and do you now have better insight into reading the article. More reflection than critical. Just whack your reflection up on interact discussion and we will see whether we are moving in the right direction :)
