According to the textbook, the current world economy is increasingly becoming integrated and interdependent; as a result, the relationship between business and society is becoming more complex. Use the Internet to research a Fortune 500 company of your choice. Use a tablet, smartphone, laptop, desktop, or traditional video recorder to record a maximum five to seven (5–7) minute dynamic video on the topics detailed below. Alternatively, you may submit a four to six (4–6) page paper instead of the video submission.

Note:If you are using a tablet or smartphone you will need to email the video file to yourself, then save it to a computer in order to upload to Blackboard. You may want to upload your video to a file sharing service, such as Dropbox, if your email will not let you send a large video file. Dropbox is accessible from all smartphones and tablets from the Dropbox app.

Once you are ready to upload your video to Blackboard, view the Kaltura video tutorial found in your online course shell
(Week 4). Please use the following naming convention in the popup window for your video once it is finished uploading:

  • Introductory Search - Use the home page’s search box to keyword search many, but not all, databases.

  • Targeted Search - Scroll to the bottom of the page for an A to Z listing of all databases. Float over each link to see a description of the database and click to load that particular database’s custom search page. Custom search pages include both basic and advanced search options.

  • These databases are only partially searchable through the general search bar. You will have to search them individually to find resources for your paper.

    • Video Explaining Nexis Uni

Mergent is known for financial and accounting info, but also has qualitative information too. They offer news feeds, country reports on business environments, industry-wide reporting, company reports, and Annual Reports—the middle 3 are unique to this database. • Note- This is an exception example. Research Starter articles do appear in a feature box above the results list when using the general search box on research.strayer.edu.

  • Don't stress over writing papers! Watch this video on writing papers and essays. Topics include how to start your research, how to organize your research, how to draft your paper, and how to revise it.

As the world economy is progressing it is being integrated and codependent with factors from not only the business sector but also from several socio political spheres. Thus the relationship between society and corporate companies are becoming more intertwined and complex. In this essay, Facebook has been taken as a corporate to assess its business structure and its relationship with the society. This essay discusses the environmental factors which hinder the company’s growth. It also mentions the primary stakeholders of the company and their influence in the smooth running of it. In addition the essay intends to discuss the corporate social responsibility of the company.
The nature and structure of the company
Facebook is a social networking company, which brought a revolution in the realm of communication and networking. The company quickly garnered immense popularity and reached the top 500 list of corporate companies. It differs from the prevalent way of structuring a company in many ways. According to Abu-Khater et al. (2017), Facebook adopted a new age structure, which would accommodate the operational requirements such as using internet and informational technology. As Facebook is a company existing only in the virtual world thus it has designed its structure around the market of social media. It adopts a structure called matrix which has three core teams.
· Corporate Function-Based Teams
This team is built for the company’s operational needs for the entire structure. As suggested by Bellantuono et al. (2016), there are a certain number of teams generally under a senior executive or manager. These teams are often merged with the other two divisions. The main teams in this structural part would be
· Finance
· Technology
· Security
· Business and Marketing
· Product management
· Legal
· Human resources
· Information
· Operations
· Accounting
· Global Public Policy
· Geographic Divisions
The business of social networking and online marketing is essentially location specific. Its nature and target customers vary with geographical diversities. According to boesso et al. (2016), this structure in organization is built to facilitate this aspect by addressing the behavioral differences of users. The behavioral patterns also define specific market strategies based on local preferences. The team studies and identifies user patterns based on their location and economic identity. This helps Facebook to understand the dynamics of the virtual market better.
· Service-Based Divisions
Facebook being a company based entirely on digital marketing, it is of utmost importance that it has specific teams dedicated to develop its services. The services of the social networking site would be naturally different and would need special supervision. Hence, this division supervises the plethora of apps launched by Facebook and the networking services provided by it.

The services of the company
Facebook caters to two different categories of population with its varied range of products and services. It emerged as a social networking site for the mass population to enhance their social credibility. However, it soon turned into a marketing platform for businesses of all potential. Therefore, Facebook has come up with products providing for both sectors.
· For consumers
Other than the main Facebook profile, a user can access various other free services like Messenger, Instagram, Moments and many others which help them share their experiences and photographs. Interesting to note that these are all free services provided by Facebook and would always remain free as per their tagline.
· For businesses
The reason for the Facebook services being free is the revenue generated from the marketing sector. The mass population creating Facebook profiles every day, is not the customers of Facebook but a product themselves. As Facebook has a huge database of users, it presents a platform for the businesses to market their own products against a fee. According to Celebi (2015), it also assesses behavioral patterns in users to present them with the most relevant products. This range includes products like promotion pages, Facebook marketplace and Facebook business tools to name a few.
