You have been tasked with the creation and development of a website for a new customer to Skillage I.T. You will use your newly gained knowledge to develop and code the website as outlined in the proposal to facilitate a successful outcome for Skillage I.T. 1. You have designed and created this website in the “Website Creation Project”. This site now needs to have WCAG standards applied to it. Based on your new learning in accessibility in website design, implement accessibility measure in your website. 2. These items need to be addressed… a. The site is suitable and still functions correctly if the browser will not render CSS b. The site is suitable if the browser is used in high contrast mode c. Non-text elements are recognised by reader software d. The site is easily navigated with text-to-speech software 3. You are required to submit the following to Upskilled for assessment: a. Your new website files – to be compressed and uploaded to Upskilled b. A short paper of 500-750 words detailing the accessibility implementations applied to your website, and how specifically this supports users with different special needs including how you have addressed legislative and industry accepted requirements Grading criteria This assignment is assessed using a rubric. A rubric is a tool that uses a scale to assess the performance of participants’ skills when performing real world or authentic problem solving. Use this rubric when constructing your assignment. Your assessor will be marking your assignment based on the criteria in the table below. The level of engagement you display with the learning materials, demonstration of knowledge transfer and skills gained will determine your marks. 1. Identify accessibility standards 2. Research and identify specific user groups with particular accessibility requirements 3. Identify general legislated and industry accessibility standards and requirements to understand the wider context of accessibility. 4. Identify web development standards and prioritise application. 5. Consolidate specific and general standards and requirements into an accessibility checklist for application to website-related work. 6. Test for website accessibility. 7. Run automatic testing tools and make document changes based on results. 8. Ensure that the text equivalent for every non-text element is present in the website where feasible. 9. Verify that information conveyed with colour is also available without colour. 10. Check and ensure that document can be read without style sheets 11. Test site with different user groups to ensure that the site transforms successfully and maintains accessibility. 12. Check and ensure that pages are not dependent on colour and can operate in a monochrome environment. 13. Check and ensure that pages are logical and accessible in a text-only environment. 14. Verify that pages operate on text-to-speech browser. 15. Ensure that accessibility of website is signed off by appropriate person as meeting web-development standards
