Podiatrists basically specialise in analysis and treatment of conditions influencing the
lower extremity and particularly, the ankle and foot. The majority of podiatrists function
in general practice and cure an interesting and large number of patients having foot and
leg issues frequently related to other medical states. Several podiatrists build expertise
in a particular segment of podiatry, like the management of sporting illness or podiatric
biomechanics, cure of the high-risk foot, children or the elderly foot and leg issues.
Podiatrists are autonomous practitioners having the authority to carry out minor foot
surgery, suggest patients for appropriate investigative examinations and to recommend
drugs needed for the cure of podiatric situations. After investigating all my available
options and analysing the several routes one could practise a career in medicine,
podiatry simply came up as the correct path for my professional future. My decision to
