Description
A traveler wanted to know if the prices of hotels are different in the ten citi
es that he visits the
most often. The list of the cities with the corresponding hotel prices for his two favorite hotel
chains is in Table 10.33. Test at the 1% level of significance.
Solution:
We have to compare the prices of two chains of hotels in ten different cities in USA.
As the sample size is less than 30, we have to use ‘student’s t-test’ to compare the difference
between the Mean prices of two chains of hotels.
For this we have to calculate Mean, SD and later compare the difference between the Means
using t-test. Initially we have to calculate the variance for each group to help us decide which t-
test is to be applied.
This is done by using EXCEL.
Following Tables give the output which helps us decide upon using the appropriate type of t-test.
