Appendix (4WOSF) Erfyls Confectionaries Scenario Business Requirements Table of Contents Scenario2 Current hardware2 Business requirements3 Network3 Software3 Windows 10 Edition and Licensing3 User State Migration4 Configuration and Security Policy4 Network Shares5 Current Staff Listing5 Naming Convention5 User Groups6 Scenario  Erfyls Confectioneries (EC) is an Australian family owned and operated business tracing its roots back to ye olde times of Wales. EC make sweets and sugary treats of the highest quality. Today, EC is Australia's sole remaining family-owned confectioner of stature. The fifth and sixth generations acting as custodians of Dilwyn Erfyl’s legacy are: · Evan Erfyl Managing Director and CEO · Oscar Erfyl Sales Manager · Hayley Erfyl Administration Manager · Lillian Erfyl Production Manager EC headquarters are in Adelaide, with a production site in Elizabeth Downs. Currently Erfys Confectionaries’ is composed of several PCs connected with a basic peer-to-peer network. There is no in-house IT support officer and knowledgeable workers have been just getting things to work. This unfortunately has just meant that they have opened access to all resources to everyone. Each user stores their files on their own PC and have been haphazardly sharing these files with each other, sometimes by network sharing, copying to each other through removable media and at other times emailing and employing external storage services like Dropbox. Each department has a printer but for anyone to print they must take their documents to the computer where the printer is connected to and print it from there. Management has realised that this may not the be the best and most efficient way of business sustainability. Hundreds of hours of productivity are lost every year because of lost files, incorrect version and generally staff not knowing how to access or use the current systems. IT Works have been commissioned to analyse and redesign the network for Erfyls Confectionaries. As an IT Works consultant you have been engaged to complete the first stage of the network redesign process. This will involve upgrading the organisations desktop workstations from Windows 8 to Windows 10. You have been asked to begin with the Office Administration area. Current hardware There are 6 HP Compaq 8100 desktop PCs in the Administration office each with Windows 8 installed https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-compaq-8100-elite-small-form-factor-pc/4098436 · Intel Core i5-650 Processor 3.2-GHz, 4M total cache 2 cores/4 threads Integrated Intel HD Graphics Intel Core processor with vPro technology Intel Stable Image Platform Program (SIPP) · 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 2 GB) · 320 GB Hard Disk Drive 7,200 rpm, 8 MB cache, 3.0 GB/s, 3.5 in drive · Broadcom NetXtreme GbE Ethernet Plus NIC (PCIe x1) · Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 Graphics Card · DVD-ROM Drive · Media Card Reader (22-in-1) Business requirements  Network Implement the following network design with one PC acting as a file server for the office NOTE: x can be defined later (using VMware virtual NAT DHCP server) Software · Office Suite · PDF editing software (not just a viewer) · VLC Media player for training videos · Firefox browser · Any additional software currently installed and required by the user · HP LaserJet Universal PCL6 driver and utilities Set default applications as required. Windows 10 Edition and Licensing 6 licenses for the admin area initially, with a view to rolling out Windows 10 to a total of 30 devices within 12 months and 50 devices within the next 3 years across the organisations two sites in Adelaide and Elizabeth Downs. EC require a per device volume license. Support for Active Directory and group policy management User State Migration All 5 office administration users need their user profiles, documents folder and favourites data transferred from their Windows 8 Standard Operating Environment (SOE) to their new Windows 10 SOE. NOTE: In consultation with your IT Works Manager you decide to use USMT to collect user states and save them to the Windows 10 computer that will act as a file server. This Migration store will then be used to restore user states to the new Windows 10 SOEs on each users computer. Configuration and Security Policy This policy provides guidelines for the secure installation and configuration of ICT software and hardware assets at EC. It is designed to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of EC data when any assets are newly installed. Procedures · All computers must be configured with a Standard User Account for all staff (excluding IT Support staff who will be allocated Administrator User Accounts) · When installing applications, the most recent versions and patches should be installed to reduce the risk of any application security vulnerabilities · All desktop computers must be set with a new power plan that: · Turns off the monitor after 30 minutes · Puts the computer to sleep after 1 hour · Turns off the hard drive after 1hr 30m · All client computers must have all Windows Defender Anti-Malware and Firewall Protection features enabled. Windows Defender must be scheduled to complete a scan of the C: drive every Friday at 8pm · Default web browsers must be configured to: · Prevent pop-ups · SmartScreen filter turned on for relevant browsers · Clear browsing history when browser closes · Users must accept the following legal notice at login : “This system is restricted to authorised users. Individuals who attempt unauthorised access will be prosecuted. If you are unauthorised, terminate access now. Click OK to indicate your acceptance of this information.” · Remote Management must be enabled so that File Servers can be accessed from any client · Remote assistance must be enabled on client computers · Bit locker enabled on all File Server drives · Passwords must meet the following criteria: Every employee will be issued with a unique identification code to access the business technology and will be required to set a password for access every 60 days.   Each password must meet the following criteria:  · It must be at least eight characters long. (and no more than 16 characters)   · It must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:   · uppercase letters (A – Z)   · lowercase letters (a – z)   · numbers (0 – 9)   · symbols or non-alphanumeric characters (eg: !, $, #, or %)   · It cannot contain three or more consecutive characters from your account name   · (eg smi and jane cannot be part of your password if your user id is smithj or your   · name is Jane Smith).     An example of an acceptable password would be Redfrog* which is 8 characters long and has both upper and lower case letters and a symbol.  Network Shares One Windows 10 computer is to be designated as a File server and used to store all admin data. This file server is to be configured as follows: · Data volume = 2 hard disks with a RAID 1: Mirrored volume · 20 GB disk quota per share (Implement 20 MB in the virtual machine for Assessment 2) Current Staff Listing Last Name First Name Job Title / Position Erfyl Hayley Administration Manager Holmes Anita Office Administration Assistant Parry Paddy Office Administration Assistant Hines Pauline Temporary/Casual Assistant Symons Mike Temporary/Casual Assistant Naming Convention Use existing user naming convention User Groups Role EC Documents Office Admin HR HP LaserJet Printer Manager Read/Write  Read/Write Read/Write Manage Printers Administrative Assistant Read/Write Read/Write   - Print/Manage Documents Temporary/Casual Read Only Read Only - Print ICTNWK408 - ASDS - Written and Oral (Preparation) - Appendix 1.docxPage 4 of 6 4WOSF (ICTNWK408) Assignment 1Student Name 4WOSF (ICTNWK408) Assignment Preparation Report Date by Name 38 Table of Contents 1Current Systems2 1.1Windows Edition and Features2 1.2System Type (32-bit or 64-bit)2 1.3File System2 1.4Current Applications3 1.5Compatibility Issues and Resolution Procedures4 2Hardware Requirements4 3Installation Options and Recommendations4 4Licensing5 5User State and Data Migration5 5.1Migration Store Type5 5.2Disk Space Requirements5 6Windows 10 Standard Operating Environment6 6.1Applications6 6.2Network Configuration7 6.3Workgroup and Computer Naming7 6.4Security Requirements7 7Installation Plan7 7.1Installation Plan – Broad Outline8 7.2Contingency Arrangements and Minimisation of Disruption8 7.3WHS Precautions Onsite8 8Bibliography8 Current Systems Windows Edition and Features Contrast current OS main features with other editions. a. Current Systems
Windows Edition and Features
Contrast current OS main features with other editions.
Solution:
Windows 8 vs Windows 7: The operating system of Windows 8 boots as well as shuts down faster than Windows 7. The applications like multimedia and MS Office work faster on Windows 8. Windows 8 offers explorer for file transfers which is more efficient and faster than its predecessor. It stacks several transfer windows together as well. Web browsers work better on Windows 8. Battery life is better and Win 8 is more secure.
Windows 8.1 vs Windows 8: Windows 8.1 has a more customizable startscreen system with more variations unlike Windows 8. The former allows uninstalling multiple applications simultaneously. It comes with IE 11 while Windows 8 comes with IE 10. The support for USB 3.0, cloud computing and communication system is similar in both OS but Win 8.1 has extra support in 3D printing, Wi-Fi direct and high resolution. Messaging app has been enhanced to Skype, GUI elements can be scaled 200%.
Windows 10 Home vs. Windows 8.1:
Windows 10 has a facial recognition tool with Intel RealSense 3D camera installed, that makes it faster in booting than Windows 8.1. The former offers touchscreen feature. More features differentiating Win 10 from 8 are
· Cortana Search Bar in the Taskbar that allows voice search or typed search for files and apps.
· MyStuff search for advanced search to search specific files as well as emails.
· Quick Access View in File Explorer.
· New configuration tools for VPN, email profiles, app installations, security.
Windows 10 and Windows 10 Pro:
· Windows 10 Pro offers Bitlocker device encryption.
· It offers productivity, built-in security and management features for business management and deployment like group Policy, mobile device management, assigned access, Store for business, support for Active Directory and Azure
System Type (32-bit or 64-bit)
Solution: The major limitation of 32-bit processor is the number of calculations per second it performs, affecting the speed at which tasks are completed. 64-bit processor allows increased number of calculations per sec thus increasing processing power and faster computing. It allows multitasking and stress testing. Software programs that require many calculations for smooth functioning shall run efficiently on 64-bit processor. The only reason for an organization to use 32-bit processor is that it is compatible with old devices developed in late 1990s. Driver version of 64-bit processor for old devices are not available and transition of 32-bit to 64-bit processor is not smooth.
File System
Solution: Contrast main features and advantages of the current file system with other file systems.
FAT 32 has a better compatibility than NTFS. However, it supports maximum m4GB individual files and partition of 2TB. NTFS is suitable for internal drives. Windows OS can be installed only on NTFS partition. FAT32 has excellent compatibility and is good for flash drives and other external drives. exFAT is less compatible than FAT32 but has less limitations as compared to FAT32.
