EC make sweets and sugary treats of the highest quality. Today, EC is Australia's sole remaining family-owned confectioner of stature. The fifth and sixth generations acting as custodians of Dilwyn Erfyl’s legacy are: · Evan Erfyl Managing Director and CEO · Oscar Erfyl Sales Manager · Hayley Erfyl Administration Manager · Lillian Erfyl Production Manager EC headquarters are in Adelaide, with a production site in Elizabeth Downs. Currently Erfys Confectionaries’ is composed of several PCs connected with a basic peer-to-peer network. There is no in-house IT support officer and knowledgeable workers have been just getting things to work. This unfortunately has just meant that they have opened access to all resources to everyone. Each user stores their files on their own PC and have been haphazardly sharing these files with each other, sometimes by network sharing, copying to each other through removable media and at other times emailing and employing external storage services like Dropbox. Each department has a printer but for anyone to print they must take their documents to the computer where the printer is connected to and print it from there. Management has realised that this may not the be the best and most efficient way of business sustainability. Hundreds of hours of productivity are lost every year because of lost files, incorrect version and generally staff not knowing how to access or use the current systems. IT Works have been commissioned to analyse and redesign the network for Erfyls Confectionaries. As an IT Works consultant you have been engaged to complete the first stage of the network redesign process. This will involve upgrading the organisations desktop workstations from Windows 8 to Windows 10. You have been asked to begin with the Office Administration area. Current hardware There are 6 HP Compaq 8100 desktop PCs in the Administration office each with Windows 8 installed https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-compaq-8100-elite-small-form-factor-pc/4098436 · Intel Core i5-650 Processor 3.2-GHz, 4M total cache 2 cores/4 threads Integrated Intel HD Graphics Intel Core processor with vPro technology Intel Stable Image Platform Program (SIPP) · 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 2 GB) · 320 GB Hard Disk Drive 7,200 rpm, 8 MB cache, 3.0 GB/s, 3.5 in drive · Broadcom NetXtreme GbE Ethernet Plus NIC (PCIe x1) · Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 Graphics Card · DVD-ROM Drive · Media Card Reader (22-in-1) Business requirements Network Implement the following network design with one PC acting as a file server for the office NOTE: x can be defined later (using VMware virtual NAT DHCP server) Software · Office Suite · PDF editing software (not just a viewer) · VLC Media player for training videos · Firefox browser · Any additional software currently installed and required by the user · HP LaserJet Universal PCL6 driver and utilities Set default applications as required. Windows 10 Edition and Licensing 6 licenses for the admin area initially, with a view to rolling out Windows 10 to a total of 30 devices within 12 months and 50 devices within the next 3 years across the organisations two sites in Adelaide and Elizabeth Downs. EC require a per device volume license. Support for Active Directory and group policy management User State Migration All 5 office administration users need their user profiles, documents folder and favourites data transferred from their Windows 8 Standard Operating Environment (SOE) to their new Windows 10 SOE. NOTE: In consultation with your IT Works Manager you decide to use USMT to collect user states and save them to the Windows 10 computer that will act as a file server. This Migration store will then be used to restore user states to the new Windows 10 SOEs on each users computer. Configuration and Security Policy This policy provides guidelines for the secure installation and configuration of ICT software and hardware assets at EC. It is designed to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of EC data when any assets are newly installed.
