A ten-cylinder CI engine running at 1295 RPM powers an electric generator. The engine has a compression ratio of 16:1 and an average piston speed of 9.50 m/sec. Inlet temperature and pressure at the start of compression are 47°C and 110 kPa. It is desired that combustion start 12° bTDC using fuel with a cetane number of 51.
