A study was conducted to compare effects of gender and mood on spatial abilities. Men and women participated in a study in which half of the participants of each gender were placed in a positive mood (by watching an uplifting film clip) and half of each gender were placed in a negative mood (by watching a sad film clip). Immediately after watching the film clips, the participants were asked to navigate through a maze to reach the exit point. The amount of time to navigate the maze (in seconds) was measured and is listed below for each participant by condition. Use these data to test the main effects of the gender and mood variables and the interaction between these variables.
Male/Positive Mood: 56, 36, 75, 23, 55, 70, 82, 41, 88, 52, 60, 49
Female/Positive Mood: 57, 82, 43, 59, 66, 79, 88, 71, 75, 70, 80, 69
