A study is undertaken to examine the effects of drunk drivers and, in particular, whether older drivers are more affected by alcohol than younger drivers. Volunteers drink specified amounts of an alcoholic beverage at fixed time intervals. They perform baseline driving tests as well as driving tests fifteen minutes after each alcoholic drink. The age of each volunteer is recorded. Suppose that the outcome measure is the amount of time it takes for the drivers to complete a trip through an obstacle course. The recorded time is penalized if obstacles are missed or run over. What would be reasonable null and alternative hypotheses for this study?
