A solid circular shaft OABC with a diameter of 30 mm is supported at bearing O and B, andsubjected to the loadings as shown in Figure Q1. Dimensions are in mm. The shaft is made ofan alloy with a yield strength of 90 MPa. The diameter of the machine component at A is 300mm. Based on the shaft section at A:(a) Calculate the stresses acting at the critical point of the section.(b) Determine whether the material would yield based on the von Mises, and Tresca yieldcriterion.
(c) Draw the yield loci of both the yield criteria and indicate the operating stress state onthe plot.
