A root canal is an endodontic procedure to remove the infected or damaged nerve tissue of a tooth. The American Dental Association conducted a study to determine whether the major canal diameter of a tooth is related to the tooth type and/or the patient’s race. Independent random samples of adult male root canal patients were selected for each combination of tooth type and race. The canal diameters (in mm) are given in the following table.
