A researcher is interested in differences in spatial abilities that might exist between individuals with different hand dominance because she suspects that left-handed individuals have superior spatial abilities, as suggested by results from past studies. She designs a study to compare spatial abilities for three groups: right hand dominant, left hand dominant, and ambidextrous (i.e., neither hand is dominant). Hand dominance is determined from a questionnaire given at the start of the study asking participants which hand they prefer to use (right, left, or either) for different tasks (e.g., writing, throwing, etc.). Each group then completes a spatial ability task in which they have to navigate a dot on the computer screen through a maze using a map that they study ahead of time. Time to complete the maze is measured. State the alternative and null hypotheses for this study.
