  1. A researcher hypothesizes that listening to Mozart will reduce anxiety in neurotic adults.  A sample of 37 adults diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder completes the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (TMAS), their mean score is 5.0 with an SD of 2.5.  (Higher scores indicate greater anxiety)  After listening to 1 hour of Mozart concertos the TMAS is re-administered.  Their mean score is now 4.75, with an SD of 2.33.  The participants' scores before and after watching the program were significantly correlated, r = .75

At α = .05, is the researcher’s hypothesis supported?  Explain the results in layperson’s terms.
