Casinos are always topic of fiery debates. From the ethical perspectives there are
myriads of people across the globe wh
o are against the concept of running of casinos as
they think it to be immoral and they opine that casinos are sites for carrying on with
legal gambling and gambling is never good for the larger community. But there is
another side of the debate and people supporting the casino business opine that casinos
should be considered as sites generating immense revenue and they should be
considered as profit-making centers and the money earned from them is a significant
financial source for the governments. In this respect the on the river, cruise casinos of
Missouri have always remained a great attraction for tourists and business magnets and
the proposition for the expansion of the casino business off the rivers in Missouri has
now become a hot topic for debate. Before rendering any opinion on whether or not
such expansion should be allowed we should go through the arguments rendered by
both the sides of the debate.
To begin we should go through the arguments provided by those people who are
against the idea of expanding land-based casinos in Missouri. Opponents of the
proposal for expansion of land-based, off-the-river casinos in Missouri opine that if the
government and common public of Missouri is ready to support the expansion and
establishment of off-the-river casinos then they should also be prepared with the
consequences including increase in the degree of gambling addiction, rise in the degree
of criminal activities, and eventual loss in the realm of revenue earning on the part of
the state government as more money the gamblers will lose, the more will be the deficit
