A reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen is conducted to produce methanol. The reactor effluent flows at a rate of 400 mol/min and contains 15.4 wt% H2, 54.0 wt% CO, and 30.6 wt% CH3OH is separated by using condenser in which the condensate methanol is taken as product while the unreacted reactant is recycle back to reactor. The recycle stream contains 0.40 mole% unreacted CH3OH, CO, H2, joins the fresh feed and fed to reactor. a. Determine i. the production rate of liquid methanol ii. the molar flow rates of CO and H2 in the fresh feed iii. the single-pass and overall conversions of carbon monoxide.
