A process engineer proposed to crush a mixture of 40% limestone, 40% clay and 20% quartz
with almost similar size of 38.1 mm using a dry grinder. It was followed by screening process
to prevent incompletely crushed materials from entering to other unit operations. The wet
work index of limestone, clay and quartz are 12.74, 2.51 and 13.57, respectively. With
suitable crushing law, calculate the power required to crush 400 ton/h of the mixture from
38.1 mm to about 12.7 mm.
