A polymeric material is being extruded as a very thin ribbon of thickness 3 mm and width 25 mm. As part of the extrusion process, the material is to be treated with an antistatic agent as it leaves the extruder. This antistatic agent wicks into the porous space of the polymeric material. The radius of the pores in the polymeric material is 5 μm. It is desired that the antistatic agent penetrate 150 μm into the material. Estimate how long will it take for the antistatic agent to enter into the pores of the polymeric material. The antistatic agent has a viscosity of 38 cP and a surface tension of 30 milliN m−1. The cosine of the contact angle, i.e., cos θ, is equal to 0.84.
