OB - Journal Assignment (Assignment #2) Instructions: · Keep a journal, as per our in-class discussions, activities, and exercises. N.B. This journal is to help you to complete your second assignment. Tip: What you write in your journal should not be limited to school, the course, and or the program. Tip: Do your journaling exercise 2-3 minutes per day or longer; it is up to you. Tip: Set up a regular schedule, at a time that makes sense to you (Beginning of day… end of day… middle of day…) Tip: You may want to record your dates and times just in case you want to pull a section of your reflection and include it in your assignment. In this way, you can say, “I wrote this on this day and time”. Tip: How and where you journal is up to you. Some people prefer hard bound books, others like using their electronic devices. · Use the guidelines below to write your assignment. Do not submit your journal. Instead, pull information from your journal to prepare the assignment. · Guidelines: I will be looking for the following: · How you have demonstrated that you are reading the textbook and learning about and reflecting on Organizational Behaviour (OB). This means you need to show demonstrated awareness and application of a minimum of five (5) OB concepts of your choice. · Your connections with yourself. You could talk about aspects of where you are coming from and your future. These are personal thoughts, observations, reflections, struggles, celebrations, epiphanies etc. · Your connections with others. How do you assess your general relationship with people? · How you allow your reader to see that you are understanding OB and how it links with Project Management. How you allow your reader to understand your commitment to your personal development by intentionally writing and reflecting on it. Hint: You could share how you used the tips above. · Critical Thinking: · Say what have you learned as a result of this assignment. · Say what insight you have gained about yourself and others. · Say what reflection you have had about organizations that you have worked in or currently with in. Through the
aspects communicated in the classroom about organizational behavior, I was able to effectively focus on my understanding regarding the contemplation of human behavior within the organization. My understanding has possible analysis to figure out the fact that organization behavior relates to the interdisciplinary filled that draws on the concepts of theory from the various fields including psychology and sociology along with the aspects of Anthropology and Management.
More specifically I should mention that organizational behavior is the study of individuals and organizations and how they interact with what we teach others. This particular aspect focuses to understand how people behave in different settings of the organization and how they are behavior affects the performance of the organization. It is effective to understand that organizations' behavior includes motivation, job satisfaction, leadership, communication, teamwork, organizational culture, and change management. I believe that the use of research methods that are coherently used to explode these topics and develop theories and concepts to explain them are reluctant about the practical applications in the workplace of the behavior of the organization that improves employee performance and enhances job satisfaction.
According to my understanding, I believe if the managers have the potential to use the right motivational theories can effectively encourage the employees to perform at their best and use communication strategies in order to ensure that the information flows effectively throughout the organization. Organizational behavior is dynamic and evolving that focuses to understand the way people work together in the organizations. By understanding human behavior and applying that knowledge to organizational settings researchers and practitioners in the field of organizational behavior can help organizations operate more effectively and efficiently.
The five concepts that have effectively assisted to understand the incorporation of the organization is listed as follows. I have demonstrated awareness and application of the following organizational behavior concepts.
Communication is the most critical aspect of the organization’s behavior and it involves the exchange of information and ideas between the individuals or groups. I have able to contemplate the fact that communicating with others in a clear and concise manure using an effective language in Hanses the level of understanding.
