A MULTINOMIAL HYPOTHESIS TEST WITH UNEQUAL
EXPECTED FREQUENCIES
The Mundelein theory of inheritance claims that the frequencies of round and yellow, wrinkled and yellow, round and green, and wrinkled and green peas will occur in the ratio 9:3:3:1 when two specific varieties of peas are crossed. In testing this theory, Mendel obtained frequencies of 315, 101, 108, and 32, respectively. Do these sample data provide sufficient evidence to reject the theory at the 0.05 level of significance?
