A mother observed that her 3-year-old male child started running at a temperature of 37.8 degrees celsius at night. The mother administered 5ml of paracetamol orally to the child with little effect; temperature 37.6 degrees celsius. She decided to continue to observe if the condition will improve, instead; by 2 pm the next day, the child started complaining of abdominal pain (scale of 5-6), vomiting, passed watery stool 4 times by 5;30 pm of the same day, Temperature 40 degrees celsius and seizures that lasted for 6 seconds. The child was rushed to the emergency department of your hospital. The child is being seen, examined and a series of tests carried out in order to establish a medical diagnosis. Dipstick urine test showed a high level of protein in the urine. Due to the critical condition of the child, the doctor ordered stat dose of the following medication: IM injection Baralgin 1ml, IM injection Diazapam 2.5mg, IV injection Ampiclox 125mg and IV infusion of 1/2 strength Dextrose Saline were administered on the child.
