A fungus goes through a population of worms killing most of them. It appears that this fungus kills any worm that becomes infected. No worms have any genetic advantages. A small group of worms survives by sheer luck. And by coincidence (i.e. not related to the fungus) these worms all have a rare allele for blue skin.
