Australia‟s Aboriginal culture is probably the oldest surviving culture in this whole
world with a history of more than 50,000 years. Because of the adaptation ability and
change over time are the important reason for the survival of this culture. The
cultures of Aboriginal‟s are complex and diverse. The cultural heritage is built up by a
group of human beings which is passed on from one generation to another and is
given to them because of their birth.
In Australia, Aboriginal communities carry forward their knowledge, arts, rituals and
performances from one generation to another, speaking and teaching languages,
protecting cultural materials, sacred and significant sites, and objects. The major
distinctive feature is „oneness with nature‟. To Aborigine, all the rivers, rocks, island,
beaches, sun, moon, stars and animals are all sacred. They understood and cared
for their different environments, and adapted to them very well. They lived in open
camps, caves or simple structures made of bark, leaves or plants and their tools
are both simple and sophisticated.
Challenges faced by Aboriginal community
In Australia, Aboriginal people have suffered greatly in the past. According to the
statistics, these people have poor health, less educational and employment
opportunities, low life expectancy, and above all negative social attributes like racism
