A 72-year-old man is brought in by his family for “not speaking right.” Starting 2 days ago, his children noticed that he tends to put inappropriate words together or makes up words that do not exist (paraphasias). He also does not seem to understand everything that they tell him. Upon exam, you notice a subtle right lower facial droop and weakness of the right arm. He has no difficulty walking. What is a head CT most likely to show?
A. Infarction of Wernicke area (left anterior temporal lobe) and the left motor cortex
B. Brainstem infarct involving the left facial nucleus and hypoglossal nucleus
C. Infarction of Broca area (left lateral frontal lobe) and left motor cortex
D. Left ACA infarct
E. Right posterior frontal lobe infarct with some involvement of parietal and temporal lobes
