Pre Calculus assignment
If y = A sin (Bx+C)+D or y = A cos (Bx+C)+D we have
Amplitude = A
Period
= 2pi/B
Phase shift is C (to the left)
Vertical shift is D
Using this we can say
Y = 1+tan {1/(2x)}
Amplitude =none
Period = none
(this is not a periodic function but extends from –infty, to infty)
Vertical shift = 1
Phase shift =0
We find that tan pi/2 or odd multiples of pi/2 is undefined
So asymptotes would be 1/2x = (2n+1)pi/2
Or x =
Y = arc sin x
Graph is shown below
This is not a periodic function, hence no period, no amplitude
No vertical shift or phase shift here.
Asymptotes = nil
From the graph we can find max = 2 and min = -4
Hence amplitude = 3.
The curve repeats itself to peak from 0 to pi.
Hence period = pi
Vertical shift is 1 down
If we consider this as...
