Dear All,
Hope you are doing well and staying safe! The values, as well as the ethics I would lev
erage while dealing with such a situation as displayed in the movie, is, to be honest to my family. The protagonist Khaila had neglected her family especially the little child who needed her the most. She was more engrossed in her personal pleasures and drugs instead of investing time to nurse her child. She was perhaps very oblivious of reality and didn't bother to take care of her child. Hence, it was a clear case of neglect towards children! In such a scenario, the stepping up of Margaret was required and perhaps required for the betterment and care of the child. Khaila was already in and out of rehab because of her drug problems, hence Margaret was very capable and legally eligible to adopt little Isaiah. In this situation, the ethical steps that were required were to consider the adoption of the child and keeping Isaiah away from Khailah since she will set a wrong precedent for the future. Therefore, interracial adoption works a big role in the film, a black baby been adopted by a white family. I strongly believe that interracial adoption is not a bad thing and arguments given by Kadar in the movie seem to be very discriminative to his own people. Therefore, he says "black people don't live like white people". Hence, the major ethical issue that emerges from the movie is to refer the skin color in a discriminative way. The movie...
