Collaborative Technologies
Collaborative technologies can be defined as the combination of collaborative softwares, which are online. These are tools and systems designed to make working within groups easy both in-office and at remote locations (Dustdar, Nepal & Joshi, 2019). This makes real-time communication easy for the teams regardless of their physical locations. Some of the major components of collaborative learning include mobile phones, emailing, instant messaging and video conferencing.
Benefits
Using collaborative technologies brings several opportunities for business organisation in this era of globalisation and digitisation. Some of these benefits have been identified as:
· The management of the organisations is able to arrange their remote-workers into virtual teams and thus make them do a variety of tasks.
· The interaction between the employees can be increased considerably and therefore improving their productivity and overall performance of the company (Dodgson, 2018).
· With collaborative technologies, the work flow can be compressed considerably and misunderstandings among remote workers can be reduced. This also helps to save overhead costs of the company.
Limitations
Some of the limitations are as mentioned below:
· Technology may not be able to perform certain processes and therefore making the task complicated for the team members.
· Technology failures such as disturbances in the network and problems in the internet connection may reduce the quality of task being performed and may increase the timeframe of completion as well.
