1. Five Ways to Approach a Research on the Use of Meditation
The scientific method for any work includes steps, which are as follows:
i. The scientist should observe and make a note of it
ii. They should gather information by asking questions about the observations
iii. They should make predictions based on their hypothesis, which is a preliminary description of what they have observed. Through this, practical results can be achieved.
Based on this approach, to study mindfulness and meditation I should practice on my own. Meditation is a practice, in which a person relaxes their mind, body and feelings. It is a neutral state of being calm. Post analysis is the first step to practice different techniques and observe the changes in the life and the body of the person. The study has shown that daily practice of mediation improves the quality of life and it has the cure to different common diseases such as depressions, anxiety and emotional reactivity (Lindahl, Fisher, Cooper, Rosen & Britton, 2017).
As meditation is more of an internal process, it cannot theoretical either. Observation will lead to awareness and I can notice changes. As a professional researcher, I will have it all in medical terms. More observable and possibly testable questions, which would lead to an investigation, are required in science. More number of subjective questions focusing on the thoughts and feelings of people from the past are needed in meditation research.
