In many states and counties, teenagers have been entering into unlocked/unsecured garages for years. Most of these crimes were committed when the residents were out, the garage door left open, and beer and other alcoholic beverages stolen. Yet only recently has the district attorney taken a hard stance when recommending sentencing for these property crime offenders. This has been brought on by the victims coming forth and fighting for the court to hear their stories. Many of the offenders are being adjudicated on felony charges, such as burglary or robbery.
