You find a die on the street. It feels a little heavier than normal but you don’t really think anything of it until you notice an unusually long string of 6s one day. You decide to test it to see if it is fair. To do this, you roll it 100 times. In your 100 rolls, it comes up with the following frequencies: 1 – 13 times 2 – 22 times 3 – 12 times 4 – 9 times 5 – 19 times 6 – 25 times Create a hypothesis test to determine whether or not this die is fair. Be sure to be very clear about what your null hypothesis is, the alternative hypothesis, the assumed distribution of your variable of interest, and your p-value. There are many equally valid ways to go about testing this, so don’t get bogged down trying to do it “the right way.” Just make sure that your test does what you want it to do. If you need to, make a logical chart to ensure that your conclusion follows.
