Analysis of the Selected Poems
The Wind by Gwilym
    Written in Welsh tradition conventionally, Gwilym takes up spiritual approach to define the powers of wind. In her 64 line poem The Wind, he discusses about the qualities and free nature of the wind. She is more like in adherence with Wordsworth, the 18th century romantic poet to reckon wind as something that free wanders anywhere it wants to be. It cannot be restrained by anything that is possibly created by human beings. Ironically, humans are bound to limits that they have imposed on them but all of these restrictions have no authority on wind. It is more like having a free will to move and act in whatever way that is possible. The significant aspect of the poem is to project wind as the master of its actions.
    Another remarkable aspect of the poem can be inferred in the form of comparison that Gwilym makes; he compares wind mainly with an author, a breeder of leaves as well as a jester. He requests wind to go and use its free will to mention to his girlfriend about the powers that it holds. Though it might appear cumbersome but still, for his desire only, the wind can carry his message swiftly and deliver it to the person of his choice (the girlfriend). The restriction of exile is posed on Gwilym because of his girlfriend and he is away from his native lands; it does not give him any positive vibe therefore; he wishes to use powers and authoritative nature of the wind.
The Tree by Anne Finch
    Anne Finch uses those terms in "The Tree" that speak of the good works of a tree to its guests and tourists. In addition to setting a heavenly rhythm for the poem, the simple AABB rhyme scheme that Finch creates throughout the poem illustrates key words that indicate her assertion that the tree deserves a good death. The selfless service that tree has done to the poet is the core essence of the poem. There are several other attributes with which, the poem is simply constituted. The poet is of the view that trees are gracious enough as they do not hesitate in providing shelter and safety to the visitors like her. She likes the positivity and connection that she feels with the tree she narrates in the poem. At the same time, Finch advocates for a respectful death that the tree should receive just because of the fact that it delivers several types of selfless services not only to human beings but also to birds and animals.
