  • The response papers may deal with the following topics.

Note: If you have another issue you would like to write on, ask me and I will probably approve it. This list is mainly just to help you think through issues to write on.

Part One: The Theme of Biblical Chronicles, Learning from the Book of Lamentations
At first, the book of Lamentations is one of the less known segments of the Bible. This narrative really contains some rich deposits of truth that will abundantly reward those who examine its contents, although often neglected
by some students. The style of the book is similar to the book of Jeremiah, and that prophet was certainly characteristic of the lamentation type of literature. The prophet Jeremiah was a witness of the city of Jerusalem's spiritual death, and the book of Lamentations is actually a funeral dirge depicting the suffering and sorrow that attended the death of Jerusalem. It was undoubtedly sung in captivity by the Jews as a reminder of their sorrow, and especially of their past sins that precipitated the Holy City's destruction (Hall, 2016).
The first learning that Christians may derive from the book is related to the emphasis on the order of expressions they make in their daily lives. The arrangement of the book is interesting in this context. Four of the five chapters have an acrostic shape (Hall, 2016). Chapters one, two, and four each contain twenty-two verses, and each verse begins with a Hebrew alphabet letter in succession. Chapter three has sixty-six verses, and a letter from the Hebrew alphabet is introduced in each third verse. Chapter five is not alphabetically arranged. Thus, one may understand the implied message that the life is filled with ups and downs; personal sufferings may serve as the ground of deviant behavior and lack of spiritual belief in God’s design but ultimately, the death unites the soul with God and it must be a part of the people understands (Hall, 2016).
Secondly, the book tells about some universal applications of truths that people must remember. For example, in chapter one, by the Suffering of Jerusalem, it is implied that greatness of the past does not matter; a change in behavior can alter that status of human beings. Apostasy nearly overnight destroyed great reputations. Heartache, too, is often the companion of rebellion as well as sin does have a price tag on it. Before committing sin, one has to understand the gravity of it and by all means, remain away from it as well (Hall, 2016).
Additionally, the welfare of God's people as a whole will concern every truly spiritual person. The faithful Christian should never isolate himself and ignore the church's condition as it exists everywhere. Paul's empathy for the congregations of the people of the Lord, wherever they were, is noted. Similarly, the belief system of people in the ultimate truth of God should be in accordance with what Suffering of the Siege states to them. It is the obligatory principle to common human beings that they must remain faithful to the teaching of God and by following His commands; they must stand as loyal to His decisions (Hall, 2016). These are some of the expected things which Christians must learn from the Book of Lamentations.
There are some other dimensions to the understanding of the Book of Lamentations and they are implied towards God’s guidance given to the...
