A plethora of destinations, activities and attractions are available from which to choose from. Each of these will appeal to different consumer groups, based on their needs, wants and expectations. Successful tourism operators analyse the tourist market to identify potential tourist groups and develop specific tourism experiences to attract travellers to a destination. This assessment will allow students to investigate the characteristics & motivators for a particular tourist group and consider how tourism operators develop tourism products to meet the needs of these consumers. The first blog post is due at the end of Module 2, the second blog post is due at the end of Module 3. Each of the blog posts must be created using the learning portal blogging tool. Students should include images or other multimedia (referenced appropriately) in each post to support and illustrate their points of discussion. In addition, each blog post must be supported by both academic & non-academic sources. Blog post 1 (Module 2) Select a tourist consumer group and outline the characteristics that make these consumers unique as travellers, including factors that motivate their desire to travel & influence their destination choice. Support your discussion with reference to tourist motivation theories. Blog post 2 (Module 3) Identify a specific destination that would meet the travel needs of the consumer group discussed in the blog post 1. Highlight at least two unique tourist activities available in the destination and explain how these provide immersive experiences to meet the requirements of the tourist consumer group.
