Defining quality of care from the provider and patient perspective.

Patient engagement has become the most important goal of healthcare organizations; in that it focuses on the relationship between both the patient and the provider ensuring that care decision improve patient efforts to manage their own care. The assessment of quality of care from the patients perspective have shifted from patients satisfaction to patient’s experience; this assessment is not only feasible but can lead to reduce hospital admission, improved effectiveness, efficiency and quality of life to enhance the quality and accountability of healthcare professional.

Viewing Quality of care as a strength and a weakness.

The assessment of quality is the reflection of the values and goals as it relates to the strength and weakness of healthcare organization in the United States. Hence, caring about the quality as a strength and a weakness are vital to people than most goods and services. Individuals always hope that the healthcare system work as well as they may desire, because their strength will determine the quality of care. Highly skill medical professional that assess patients for screening and preventative care are considered a strength, in that, screening can lead to early diagnosis or even the prevention of disease which eventually improve the outcome of an individual health. Another strength is how safe the delivery of healthcare is to patients as feeling a sense of safety will reduce fear of system errors, negligence and poor quality of life. Some of the major weaknesses are, the lack of general awareness, increase in the demand for transparency in the decision making of care, and the demand for credibility. These weaknesses can lead patients to question their treatment plan thus leading to confusion and trust.

Difficulties and benefits working with licensed independent practitioners and Managers consideration while working with them.

The growth of license practitioners in the U.S. is surprising, given the wide range of healthcare disparities, hence, the barriers that limit the practice of those individuals. Access to care is important to patients. Licensed practitioners are willing to deliver quality and cost-effective care even though government bodies continue to ignore legislation that would update the law and modernize healthcare. Some of the difficulties independent licensed practitioners face are the battle to practice within the scope of practice regulations, facing restriction when moving from one state to another, thus limiting the scope of practice and how it indirectly impacts patient care. (Peterson, 2016). Some of the benefits of working with these practitioners are, they reduce the cost of patients visits, they keep patients out of hospitals, they treat the whole patient not just the disease and they spend more time with patients.

The considerations managers should keep in mind when working with practitioners are, ensuring that the work environment is conducive, because effective performance management will constitute good leadership, constructive feedback and positive workflow.

(2) TO BE ANSWER FROM YOUR PERSONAL OPINION IN 300 WORDS

In this discussion we will discuss quality care from a provider and patient perspective. Also why quality care can be viewed as a strength and a weakness of the U.S health care system. “The health care services delivery system, traditionally the domain of the health services provider and the person seeking care, has become increasingly complex” (Barton, 2010, p. 310). As health care grows into what has become complex between provider and patient there is still great demand for quality care. As mentioned in our reading this week, “Health Promotion” will continue to be on the front line of health services delivery system. Medical advancements and new technology have strengthened quality care in healthcare today. I would say quality care can be defined as the ability to access care in an effective timely manner.

From a patient’s perspective, quality care can be defined as, using the newest technology which means better health, long life, and “receiving the latest diagnosis and treatment options available” (AIU, 2020). The expectancy they will live longer by receiving quality care by a physician of expertise for their condition is vital. Many factors come into play as well, population, age, and gender of patients, their history to determine the care available. Patient’s expect to be in the best care and trust their physician with their health.

From a provider’s perspective, quality care can be defined as, respecting their patient oath who rely on their education, medical expertise, and quality of work environment. They have access to “cutting edge technology”, they have “access to the best technology possible to use when providing patient care” (AIU, 2020). The advantage of having a good physician, is patients will continue to seek treatment. Highly skilled medical physicians serve as an incentive to continue to educate themselves on the latest trends and discover new medical treatments. Physicians expect their work environment to provide the resources they need to take care of their patients. We see this today with the lack of PPE available across different cities, low equipment supplies leading to fatality’s including physicians and nurses.

Quality of the U.S. health care system can be viewed as a strength and a weakness, strength because new technology today can be viewed as a saving life tool, while the weakness could be mortality. Strengths include, new medical technology, innovative technology such as scans and x-ray and availability to access to care. Weakness include, possible failure of technology, not having access to medical care, and high costs of services. In the practice of a licensed independent practitioner, they can work under their own license without supervision. The benefits, the cost is less than seeing an actual physician and they are able to access care in a timely manner. The difficulties, could be patient refused to see LIP and LIP clinical performance are not recorded. There could also be some services not reimbursed by certain medical plans and this is where managers need to be mindful. They have to understand LIP are not physicians and their scope to care varies. The cost of receiving treatment is rising and this is one of the reasons the health care system needs more improvement in delivering quality patient care.

Patient engagement surely has
emerged as one of the most essential concept in healthcare. Ensuring a healthy relationship between the provider as well as the patient is one of the major necessity in order to allow patients to manage their own care. I strongly agree with your views related to the shift in quality of care because patient satisfaction and patient’s experience of the care delivery could present different perspectives. Patient might be satisfied because they were cured from the issue or disease; however, they might not be happy with the overall service delivery experience.
Further, I also agree that allowing patients to be a part of decision making in their treatment would help to ensure the sense of safety among them. It would be essential to consider that a highly experienced service provider could ensure better service compared to a less experience healthcare professional and the prior one may allow early diagnosis of disease than the latter one. I appreciate the weaknesses identified by you because transparency in decision-making is one of the major factor to consider while ensuring...
