Read these Instructions and the Rubric very carefully. 2. Select one (1) of the three topics on the next page to address in your Literature Review. 3. You are encouraged to use the Assignment Calculator to plan your work – this is explained in the Sway. 4. Use the format below to structure your document, including the table. 5. Follow the steps in the sway to work through the Review. 6. Use the Draft Submission area for a SafeAssign check, with a Word document format. 7. Upload your completed work to the Final Submission area as a PDF document. Presentation requirements • Conform to the requirements of academic writing including academic language and document layout (font style and size, line spacing, and margins). • Use the structure and table provided in the Instructions in your Literature Review document. • Use APA7 referencing style (see the sway in the Assessments section). Assessment criteria 1. Selection of topic is clear. Describes the relevance of the selected topic to healthcare and PEoLC. 2. Manages information systems to identify relevant peer reviewed literature to explore the selected topic. 8-10 peer-reviewed journal articles must be included. 3. Critically appraises the selected articles to identify key issues in selected topic (including use of table). 4. Written communication and presentation, referencing using the APA7 style. 2 TOPICS (choose one) In selecting one of the three topics below, you will identify three key issues within that topic. To do this, you will identify key search terms and construct your search strategy, present your findings using the table provided, and critically analyse three key issues, making clear links to the topic you’ve selected. Topic 1: Access to care Not everyone who needs palliative and end-of-life care can access it. Identify key groups in Australian society who experience limited access to palliative and end-of-life care services. What strategies are identified in the literature? How do the key issues you identify relate to the Standards and Guidelines that regulate palliative and end-of-life care? Topic 2: Supportive communication Providing supportive communication is a core activity in palliative and end-of-life care. What communication skills are needed between people living with life-limiting illnesses and healthcare professionals? When do they work effectively? When do they not? How do the key issues you identify relate to the Standards and Guidelines that regulate palliative and end-of-life care? Topic 3: Multidisciplinary teamwork Working in multidisciplinary teams is a core feature of the provision of palliative and end-of-life care in many settings. What are the key characteristics of multidisciplinary teamwork? What are the barriers to effective teamwork? How do the key issues you identify relate to the Standards and Guidelines that regulate palliative and end-of-life care? STRUCTURE OF REVIEW The approach described below uses a particular structure to literature reviews that you would commonly find in many journal articles and books. Follow this structure in writing your review. Word counts for each section are indicative only – the final word count is the one that is measured. Review the Sway relating to this Assessment Task. It provides step-by-step instructions on how to undertake a review of the literature. Introduction (about 100 words) Provide two or three paragraphs informing the reader of the focus of the literature review. This should include why the topic is important in the healthcare system generally, and in palliative and end-of-life care specifically. Do not simply cut and paste the topic into the Introduction. Search strategy (about 200 words) Tell the reader how you went about finding the relevant literature for this review. This should include key search terms and the databases used (eg: CINAHL, PubMed, etc). You should end up with a selection of between 8-10 articles published since 2015 that inform your understanding of the topic you selected. Findings (about 600 words including text in Table) Tell

Introduction
As beautifully quoted by Lois Capps, that “Nurses serves their patients in the most important capacities. We know that they serve our first line of communication, when something goes wrong or when we are concerned about hea
lth”. According to this context, this paper will provide you the thorough research how supportive communication is highly needed for those people living with life-limiting illness. Palliative care is an interdisciplinary care giving approach aimed at quality of life and mitigating suffering among people with serious complex illness. This paper will produce literature review with the topic supportive communication and how it is related with standard and guidelines of palliative and end-of life care.
Search Strategy
While beginning with searching the articles, the paper undergoes certain procedures. For instance, firstly it has started with Google Chrome where in order to get relevant information for this particular topic supportive communication the paper selected Google Scholar for referencing purpose. Then after typing Google Scholar, which is a renowned and relevant resource zone, it typed supportive communication skills. About 1350000 results came and out of them, 3 to 4 articles contain PDF and HTML files. Then after gathering information about supportive communication skills from these pages, the paper proceeded towards next topic, which is supportive communication in palliative and end-of life care. About 99,000 results were found under this and maximum were PDF and HTML files.
After sorting it according to the time since 2017, the result of the topic supportive communication skills stands to 64,500. Among these, the papers, which have been chosen, are few such relevant articles, which are most closely related to the topic, such as those published by Hafskjold et al. (2017) and Back et al. (2019). These two articles are used to understand the supportive communication skills. After sorting the topic supportive communication in palliative and end-of life care in term time since 2017, the result stands into 16,200 hits. Among these articles, our paper chooses few such relevant articles, which are best suited for the topic. The articles are those published Brighton et al. (2019), Kaasa et al. (2018), Price et al. (2017), Cloyes et al. (2018), Dunning and Martin (2018) as well as Pollens et al. (2018). All these articles are chosen to highlight the key issues in palliative and end-of life care, and how supportive communication is needed to handle the patients with further implementation.
Findings
There are several sociological theories and strategies, which are highly required for all the medical and healthcare staffs to deal with patients and acknowledge the palliative care giving practices. It helps them to connect between group and personal flexibility by utilising the social network policies, which thereby educate them to learn communication skills.
With the help of skilled communication power, the medical staffs, nurses and even the doctors are now able to adopt the presentation skill. After exploring communicating skills, they can very easily adopt the patient's education. The writing skill as well as listening actively to any patients also improved.
In this technologically advanced world, everyone is found to be taking help of several teaching and learning tools. It includes the internet, various Wikipedia’s, several journals and articles from websites, which thereby provides fruitful information in an attractive way about the patient’s world. As stated by Banerjee et al. (2017) nurses plays the vital role in dealing with the patients the most. They had to deal with various range of patients and for these development of communication skills is highly needed.
As the nurses had to deal with the doctors, other medical staff and with the patients, therefore, they should possess a good nurse communication competency. Therefore, communication plays the most important component in building the career of a nurse. A nurse has to deal with patients from various ranges, cultures, sections and areas. Therefore, they should know how to talk with them and thereby assess them with medication.
As stated by Dalcól, Garanhani., Fonseca and Carvalho, (2017) sometimes non- verbal communication theories are also adopted by the nurses, as there are many patients who fail to understand specific languages. Supportive communication is a support given both verbal as well as non-verbal in times of stress, heart attacks, physical and emotional distress and many others. The main motif of this support is to assist those seen and being in need of such support. The communication skills therefore, help them to explain the...
