1. Try to include the observation of overt behaviors (actual functioning)—whether in the natural environment or in a contrived setting—whenever applicable.
2. Try to give priority to situation-specific measures rather than global measures (e.g., a measure of social anxiety related to a problem in heterosexual relationships, rather than a measure of general anxiety).
