Differential association theory was originated by Edwin Sutherland in the year of 1939 and itrecommends that individuals learn values, frames of mind, strategies, and thought processes in criminal conduct through their cooperation with others. As per the views of Sutherland, communication with others has more impact on one`s criminal behaviour and it is learnt. Intimate groups and intimate relationships with people affects one`s criminal behaviour as one learns from these intimate connections. One`s interpretation of the laws and legislations in the area where one resides would impact ones criminal behaviour.
