Please note thatONLYthe following calculations are Excel compatible: Descriptive Statistics (appendix 15a); correlation coefficient (Ch. 18); and pairwise t-test (Ch. 17). All other calculations need to be done manually.

You should already know how to calculate descriptive statistics using Excel since you have done that twice (GDB 3 and the research paper). To calculate the correlation coefficient as well as the calculated t-statistic for the pairwise t-test, you need to enter the given input data just like with descriptive statistics. For correlation, you will see that as one of the options under the data analysis drop down menu and it is fairly straightforward. For the pairwise t-test, you need to do the following:

A. From the data analysis drop down menu, select t-test: Paired Two Sample for Means

B. Enter the data range from your input sheet

C. For hypothesized mean difference, just enter 0

D. The default setting for the alpha level is .05 (95% significance). You should change it as needed based on the requirements of the problem. Please note that alpha level and p value are synonomous terms and can be used interchangeably.
