Introduction
In the era of modernization, education of an individual is important for our society. Adults are specifically engaged with the traditional education system for gaining knowledge, attitude, values in the workplace and other attributes. Adult education plays an important role in different perspectives including the upliftment of the society and the development of the cultural traditions of the society, at large. Adult education often leads to the development of an extensive and advanced way of thinking that enhances the overall status of the society and in turn improves employment (Lindeman, 1984). This article focuses on different perspectives including the concept of an adult and the purposes of adult learning.
Who is an Adult?
    An adult is an individual that is developed physically as well as mentally. An adult is a stage of life of an individual when they are capable of undertaking their own actions. An adult usually has the responsibility for their actions and has the ability to make different decisions (Birman et al., 2020). Normally, adults act in such a way that their thoughts and actions are mature enough for their personal as well societal development. Sexual orientation is properly developed in an adult and is capable of reproduction.
Purposes of Adult Learning
Adult education or adult learning has a number of purposes that make it mandatory for achieving the desired level of learning and education. Adult education is aimed at the preference of the adults to allow them to learn and educate themselves (Trickett, 2020). This provides them the ability to achieve social justice. The governments of different countries have therefore ensured that adult education is a social policy for development.
Job requirements and its achievement is one of the prime reasons for adult education. A proper adult education may provide the ability to an individual or an adult to learn new concepts and skills that may allow them to achieve a higher job role in a company (Clover, Sanford & Butterwick, 2020). This allows them to have a higher social status and family sustainability.
