Define environmental justice and environmental racism
Environmental justice emerged in USA, North Carolina in the year 1980. It was protests from the Afro-American people and local disputes over toxic dumping in their areas by the whites. The racial issues are tried to be avoid and instead emphasis was given more on protection of the ecology, mutual respect for all the people living in the society, use of renewable resources and cessation of all toxic and nuclear testing which are hazardous and poisonous to the society. Environmental racism means implementation of policies and practices for dumping of toxic waste in close proximity of the people with different colour. This may be in the form of toxic sewerage works, landfills, power stations and mines which can cause health hazards for the people living in the community. (Peter Beech, 2020)
