1. Respiratory problems frequently occur in patients with burns, particularly those with facial burns or who were injured in enclosed spaces such as a car or small room (see Chapter 2). Apply your knowledge to explain how each of the following affects respiratory function in a burn patient and the end result:
a. Inhaling carbon monoxide
b. Inhaling very hot air with irritant particles and gases
c. A deep burn covering the chest and back
