1. Refer to the two classrooms in this chapter that used apples as a topic of study: one as a theme and one as an inquiry-based study. Compare and contrast the learning that you perceived to take place in both of the classrooms. Comment on and then discuss your fi ndings.
2. No matter what type of reading instruction is used in a primary classroom, some children will be more advanced than others. Discuss fi rst the feelings that children of all levels might have about these unavoidable inequities. Then discuss approaches you might take to alleviate negative feelings.
