1. Observe a young child at play for 30 or more minutes. Try to categorize the school subjects that the child’s playful learning might fi t into.
2. Observe one boy and one girl in an early childhood play setting. Write a running commentary of their social behaviors over at least 30 minutes. Then compare and contrast your fi ndings with those of the social/affective theorists featured in this chapter.
3. Interview a teacher of young children who incorporates integrated curriculum and/or inquiry learning into the classroom learning activities. Ask about the benefit ts and possible concerns. Do they match those suggested in this chapter?
