ANS 1; - It is a process of treatment of the environmental problems by the plants and other useful methods
and technology of bioremediation by augmentation and volatilization . Dioxin is a chemical component
which contaminates the soil by the presence of various non degradable compounds in them which pollute
the soil as well as the ground water table .phytoremediation is the process of bioremediation technology.
This dioxin composes of poly chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans
(PCDD/PCDF).
The various methods of phytoremediations used for intoxication of soil from dioxin are
 Phytoextraction;-the process of intake of certain concentration andsubstances from environment
and biomass from plant and animal wastes .Basically this contamination is caused by sugarcane
bagasse on the soil after it is harvested. Supercritical water oxidation, and processes like base
catalysis decomposition methods , steam distillation methods and other kinds of extraction
technologies like volatilization by solvents and liquefied gas as well as by sub critical water
extraction which may provide less than 95 percent of toxin removal .
 Phytostabilization; - it is a process where the substituent mobility in the environment is reduced
by the process of leaching with microbial strains of the biochemical component from the soil.
 Phytotransformation:-it’s a process of modification of environmental substances chemically
which is a direct result of plant metabolism that results in inactivation of degradation .
 Phytostimulation:-enhancing the soil microbial activity for degradation of contaminants by
using microbial strains which can degrade the toxic chemicals of dioxin .this process is known as
rhizosphere degradation.
Dehalogenating bacteria belonging to all chloro organic compounds are phylogenetically
diversified ,but efficiently PCDD dechlorinationare limited to dehalococcoides which are microscopic
organisms .. Efficient PCDDoxidisers are mainly of Sphingomonas and Pseudomonas types of bacterial
stains.Phyto extraction uses plants to remove the chlorinated contaminants from soil. This also gave
another method of phytoremediation called as phytomining or mining with plants and these plants absorb
the contaminated substances or biochemicals from the soil through the root system and store them in form
of root biomass . But this must be repeated as once the plant is harvested , the rest of the un absorbed
contaminant stay in the upper part of the soil .so it need to be repeated several times until the soil gains its
normal p
